[Richmond Dispatch, Wednesday, August 16, 1876.]
The Lynchburg Virginian had the pleasure of a visit Monday [August 14, 1876] from General Joseph E. Johnston. The General has been on a visit to his brother, General Peter C. Johnston (who has been ill), and was returning to the White Sulphur [Springs, West Virginia], where he has been spending the summer with his wife for the benefit of her health. He will leave in a few days for his home at Savannah, Ga.
[Joseph Eggleston Johnston (1807-1891)
Peter Carr Johnston (1793-1877)
His wife = Lydia Milligan Sims McLane Johnston (1822-1887)]
