My dear Coraly [Coralie],


I have received your sweet note, and regret very much that my obligations will not let me go to Richmond now. I would love of all things to spend Christmas with you all. I have been intending for a month to visit you as soon as practicable. Tell Ben that his note of yesterday is just come, and is answered by this.

Laetitia Floyd "Letty" aka "Lettie" Johnston (March 1, 1844-November 27, 1888), Coralie's sister, had died in Richmond the month before
Joseph E. Johnston (1807-1891); his wife Lydia McLane Johnston had died in 1887 at the age of 65 
Ben = George Ben Johnston (1853-1916)

Your mother = Nicketti Buchanan Floyd Johnston (1819-1908)
Your father = John Warfield Johnston (1818-1889), JEJ's nephew

Sally = Sally Buchanan Floyd Johnston Lee (1848-1925), married to Henry Carter Lee (1842-1889)]
