With the passage of time, this first handwritten letter sent to me thirty years ago today by Anita K, an East German Meissen Ware artist and volunteer tour guide, is now of historical interest. The original will be housed in the university archives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA. We met in 1981 during a UNC international summer class led by Professor James R. Leutze, and corresponded for a couple years thereafter. The DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) part of the class journey included stays in Dresden and East Berlin.
