This was an ongoing list compiled by D. Armour Hillstrom (March 2, 1916-February 13, 2012). The literal title is "LIST OF C[ivil] W[ar] TROMPS BY YEAR" of the Army of the Cussewago, led by Jay Luvaas (January 15, 1927-January 9, 2009).
From the files of my father, Donald Delbert France (February 1, 1934-November 2, 2013).
These are digitized scans of photographic slides taken by my father, Donald Delbert France (1934-2013), while on an American Civil War tromp in West Virginia with the Army of the Cussewago, led by Jay Luvaas, in 1975. The latter is to the right, wearing a red jacket, with white hair.
This one is included because I can identify exactly where it was taken: Lewiston, West Virginia. The Fort Savannah Inn was "abandoned" at some point, but the grounds are being converted into a park and market, at least as of the summer of 2013. There's an article about it here. There's a lot of history in Lewiston, population currently about 4,000.
From a vantage point in the area of Hawks Nest State Park, West Virginia.
An impressive pig, somewhere on or near Cheat Mountain.
These are digitized scans of photographic slides taken by my father, Donald Delbert France (1934-2013), while on an American Civil War tromp in West Virginia with the Army of the Cussewago, led by Jay Luvaas, in 1975. This first one is from a vantage point in the area of Hawks Nest State Park, overlooking a bridge over the New River. This is near Gauley Bridge and the Hawks Nest Tunnel Disaster of the 1930s. There is a documentary about the latter -- link here.
